The Seven Ages of Man – seventh in Devon reflects first in Melbourne

Thought of this on seeing my husband’s niece’s Facebook post about her first child…

“At first the infant,Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms.”

…contrasted with the dearly loved great-grandfather of said infant, who lives on – and on – safely ten thousand, six hundred and seventy two miles away – with us:

“Last scene of all, That ends this strange eventful history, Is second childishness and mere oblivion, Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.”
